Heroes de Chapultepec

This mural is inside the Castillo de Chapultepec (Chapultepec Castle) in Mexico City. The mural depicts one of the several boy heroes that defended the castle against the American invaders over 160 years ago. The male cadets decided to wrap themselves in Mexican flags and fall from the towers they were guarding as an alternative to becoming captives of the invading American army. To this day, many Mexicans see the Cadet Heroes of Chapultepec as a symbolic example of defiance in their nation´s history.
